While you can call the elevator repair person, there are tasks and preventative maintenance duties that will help keep the elevators in better condition so you don't have to call as often.

Keep Standards

One thing that is important to look for is the wait time for your elevator(s). The best way to find out if your elevator is performing up to its standards is to make a note of the time it takes to arrive during normal times of the day and during peak times of the day. You can get an average of the time and the best way to see how it compares is to find out the standard for the same type of elevator or to even compare the notes in your paperwork. If you no longer have paperwork available then you should be able to call the manufacturer or even the elevator repair person to get an idea of what the average wait times should be from the top floor to the bottom floor.

New Technology

There are a variety of reasons why the elevator may have a longer than usual wait time and sometimes it is a pretty simple repair. For instance, a relay that is defective will cause an elevator that is more slow; it can also be due to the control system which can be replaced. In fact, an up to 50% less wait time can be obtained by (typically) with a new microprocessor-based control system. The drive system is another area that may need replacing and you can have the repair person take care of this for you if your maintenance staff does not have the training to do it.
