At some point we all have to hire new employees. Whether it's due to an employee leaving the company, expanding, or a change in the infrastructure of the facility, hiring is a necessary process. However, how do you get the best pool of potential employees to your facility?

Here are a few tips on finding qualified employees

Post a Job Listing

This may seem like a no-brainer but there are many qualified workers that browse such places as LinkdIn, staffing websites, and even Craigslist. You may get a few applicants that are not qualified but there is always that ideal employee who is simply out of work but perfect for the job.

Keep Your Friends Close and Your Enemies Closer

What this means is to keep in touch with the competition if possible. Having a good relationship with other facilities that are similar to your facility keeps your options open. For instance, someone may apply to another facility where their skills are not a fit but are perfect for your facility. By being friendly with these facilities, you may get a referral of someone who is an ideal worker for your company.

Share the Benefits

Make your job posting attractive because not everyone who applies may be out of work. By showcasing special benefits or a particular perk of working at your company, you may also attract those who already have a job but are looking for something better. These potential employees may have the exact skills you are looking for but you won't be able to attract them without having something that they don't have at their current job.

Make Time

Hiring is not always a pleasant experience but by taking the time to really check out the applicants, you may find the almost-perfect worker. Sometimes managers base their decision on first impressions and while first impressions are important, don't be so quick to make a decision by a snap judgment. You may be missing out on someone you first thought that you didn't want to hire at all.
