One of the hottest summer movies this year is San Andreas. That is, until Jurassic World comes out but for now, we probably won't have to worry about the threat of loose dinosaurs. However, earthquakes can and do happen.
Preparation Is Key
It doesn't matter where you live since most areas are prone to some kind of disaster. Hurricanes along the east and gulf coast, snowstorms and blizzards in Canada and the northern and Midwest parts of the United States, earthquakes in the western part of the United States, and tornadoes in the Midwest. Even Canada has had hurricanes, tornadoes, and yes, even earthquakes although fewer than the United States. The point is – disaster can strike anywhere and at any time.
Tips For Planning
There are tips you should take into account when preparing for a disaster so that when it happens, you have everything in place to make things safer and more calm for those involved:
-
Develop a disaster plan that includes a list of food and water supplies needed. Create a checklist of important things to do before, during, and after a disaster.
-
Taking shelter is critical in times of disaster. Sheltering in place is appropriate when conditions require occupants to seek protection in their places of employment or other locations when disasters strike.
-
Know where and how to shut off electricity, gas, and water services if it is safe to do so.
-
Review evacuation routes and emergency shelter locations.
-
Review disaster plans regularly and update any changes immediately.
Easy Implementation
You can implement some of these plans by use of a CMMS program. Since many of these things can easily fall under preventative maintenance and work order tasks, you can set up what you need done and make sure it happens because the CMMS program allows you to find out who did the work and when it was done. All you have to do is input what it is you want done as a work task or preventative maintenance and then on the date you specified, the employee gets the note to do the work and it is sent over the mobile app so no more lost paperwork or miscommunication.
