Now that you have taken the plunge and have your new CMMS program ready to start working for you, here are a few tips on making it easier to use and work more efficiently.

Data Input

One of the most important ways of making your CMMS work efficiently is to ensure that your data is implemented correctly. For instance, you want to make sure that naming task and specific labels are consistent. You do not want the same thing to be known as two or three different things because that will only make it harder to find and harder to sort. Make sure you have all of the information entered that you need. Instead of just throwing in a few notes, make good notes that you can access later with information that is crucial to what you need. If possible, have as few people as possible entering the information because you will find that it is more consistent and flows better.

Training is Key

Another important thing to do is to be sure that everyone has the proper training on the new software system. You want to be sure that from management to the maintenance department crew, that everyone is on-board with the idea and implementation of the CMMS software. And by training everyone on the system you can be sure that you always have enough help taking care of reports, work tasks, inventory, and more.
