Thinking work order software? Technology has brought us a long way

Sometimes it's difficult to remember how things were back in the "good old days" isn't it? You may have times when you even yearn for those days; days when you did everything by hand, and when computers weren't around. It seems like such a simpler time, but the fact is that technology has really done a lot for just about every industry. However, just in case you're longing for a taste of how things used to be, we thought we'd give you a little reminder.

The Telephone

Telephones are still important to us today, but once upon a time, if you wanted to use the phone, you were stuck in an office. When you were out and about, if you needed to use a phone you either found a nice neighbor who let you come in and make a call, or you put a quarter (or even a dime) in a payphone. The telephone has certainly evolved in recent years, hasn't it? Now, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone without a cell phone in their pocket or purse, and we use them for everything from ordering pizza online to paying our utility bills.

The Camera

Every office needs a camera, whether you need to document accidents, or take pictures at the annual company Christmas party. However, do you remember the days when having a camera meant that you had to insert a roll of film, take all of the pictures on the roll, and then drop your film off to have it developed? If you were lucky, your local photo mat had your pictures done overnight, but there was a time when you had to wait a week or more for one roll of film to be developed. Unless you were lucky enough to have one of those newfangled Kodak cameras that had the pictures pop out of it automatically. Now, along with their cell phones, everyone has a camera in their pockets. Digital pictures are available immediately, or if you need a printed photo, you might have to wait five minutes at your local pharmacy.

Computers

Computers have been around for quite some time, but it's only been in the past thirty years or so that we've been using them in the workplace. Only a few decades ago, businesses did their accounting on paper spreadsheets. Tax returns were filed on paper too. In fact, businesses were filled with filing cabinets that held all kinds of information because there was no other way to store everything. Today, computers have changed our lives significantly, and every business makes use of this important resource to improve their workflow. They make life easier on so many levels, giving us more efficient businesses and allowing us to do things we never could do before.

Software

If you've never thought of using work order software for your facility management business, why not? Just like how telephones, cameras and computers have evolved, work order software is just one more tool that can benefit your business. Wouldn't it be great to instantly know where all of your employees are at any given moment? Wouldn't it be great to quickly and easily fill out your work order templates every day, without having to wade through piles of paperwork?

Let's face it, technology has really changed a lot in the last few decades. We'd like to help you take full advantage of it for your business. If you'd like more information about our work order software, contact us today!
