Preventative

No matter what kind of maintenance department you take care of, corrective maintenance takes time and manpower. The good news is that preventative maintenance software is one way of ensuring that corrective maintenance happens less often and this means less downtime, better production, and a more well-oiled machine when it comes to your facility.

Corrective Maintenance

Corrective maintenance can encompass just about any type of situation in any facility. Whether it's a bottling plant that has an assembly line that needs attention or a hospitality maintenance department that has a room with a non-functioning air conditioning unit due to a dirty air filter, these are sometimes issues that can be prevented by preventative maintenance done on a regular basis. These are often things that get overlooked or put to the side because sometimes when everything is working well, it is allowed to continue and that is fine until something breaks.

Examples

For instance, if the assembly line has a stacking unit that is not working seamlessly, this can cause delays in production which costs the company money. A hospitality maintenance department may cause less profits for their company if rooms are not able to be used due to equipment failure such as the air conditioning or heating unit. Or even a facility that manages a swimming pool at a school may find that the work is harder to get the pool chemicals perfect if the daily maintenance wasn't done. These are just a few examples of the many corrective maintenance issues that are out there in a facility that is maintenance-specific. In fact, it doesn't matter what kind of facility you help manage, the day to day operations must include deterrent measures.

Be Proactive

There are many ways to try to keep up with preventative maintenance and one way is to use a CMMS program that allows you to schedule this type of maintenance in advance. So instead of waiting till there is a problem, you can be proactive and head these types of issues off at the pass. While most maintenance managers already know this, the scheduling part is what sometimes gets overlooked. With a CMMS program, you can schedule preventative maintenance months in advance – or basically, whenever you need to.

Keep in mind that it is better to have to spend a few extra minutes working on preventative maintenance software than it is to have a facility that is experiencing production issues or downtime.
