Prioritizing Is Easy With Preventative Maintenance Software

How do you prioritize when everything you do is a priority?  This is a good question, especially when it comes to running a maintenance department.

As a maintenance manager, you are already aware of how important prioritizing is, but here are a few tips that may help you with this challenge.

Task Assessment

Set some guidelines as to what "Priority" means for your facility.  Maybe use different levels, for example: "Priorty One" could be tasks causing immediate risk or personal injury, production loss or higher maintaince costs etc. Lower priority tasks would be preventative maintenace, things like that.  Determining priority guidelines will yield faster results.  It will also increase the planning, scheduling and control of your maintenance department.

Make a List

Having a list is so important to ensure you do not miss anything. However, lists tend to be messy and so often get lost. With a Preventative Maintenance Software program from Maintenance Care, you have your “list” at your fingertips no matter where you are, as long as you have an Internet connection and a web browser.  This type of software will make your life so much easier when it comes to organizing, planning, scheduling and reporting.

Adaptability

If everything went smooth all the time, we wouldn't need "stress balls".  Being adaptable is extremely important especially when dealing with an emergency.  It could mean the difference between an emergency being 10X worse because of poor management, OR, with a little adaptability, it could be handled professionally and efficiently.

Set your guidelines and then distribute tasks and responsibilities around.  This will allow you to be more flexible and able to respond to new issues quickly.  We all need to work smarter not harder.  You can be effective without being efficient, but the goal is to do both.  Utilizing a maintenance software program can help.
