If there is one thing that really cuts into a budget, it's overtime pay. Certainly there are times that you need extra work completed by your employees that does not fall within a 40 hour week.

However, overtime is one of the most costly aspects of your budget so how do you balance the two so you stay on the lower end of your budget?

Prioritize

You may not be able to plan for emergencies that require overtime help but by prioritizing your workload with a CMMS program, you can quite possibly cut down on the work that isn't done on time. The way that Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS System) helps is that it allows you to keep up with everything from work orders to preventative maintenance. By being able to properly schedule everything in advance, the only thing that is left is emergency work orders.

Think Ahead

Not having proper preventative maintenance done leads to larger issues that require more work. For instance, if you don't have preventative maintenance done on the air filters in your facility then this can lead to costly repairs and by letting preventative maintenance back up, the workload is larger and takes more time, leading to overtime. It doesn't matter what kind of preventative maintenance it is either – air conditioning filters is just an example. All preventative maintenance should be stayed on top of in order to deter any issues that can come up simply because the work was not kept up with.

Data Input

Having a way to look at all of the work that has to be done and has been done allows you the freedom of being able to create a schedule that is more accommodating to a normal work week. This also saves you time by being able to access everything more easily and in a better organized state.
