It's no secret that Jurassic World is the biggest thing right now. With a global opening of over $500 million, moviegoers love watching what happens when things go horribly wrong. While your facility doesn't have prehistoric animals, there are a few things to keep in mind in order to keep it from becoming a major disaster.
Communication
One of the issues in Jurassic World's park is that there was a lot going on with different people wanting to make the major decisions. Sure, your facility has a chain of command but without clear communication, things can go south in no time at all.
Preventative Maintenance
While the park certainly had the top maintenance engineers, one specific aspect wasn't noticed until it was too late. Without spoiling it, suffice to say that it is imperative to have every preventative maintenance duty taken care of in a timely manner in order to prevent the small things from becoming bigger problems.
Emergency Planning
Just in case things do escalate or there is an emergency, it is important to not allow things to get out of control. One way to help do this is by having an emergency plan. This plan should cover all aspects of any emergency, not just your typical “let's follow the guidelines so we're not cited” emergencies. Sure, you probably have a protocol in place for a fire but what about maintenance specific emergencies? Make sure all of the bases are covered no matter what happens that can cause harm to guests or employees.
One thing to remember is to always expect the unexpected. You can plan for just about everything and still have something happen that throws a proverbial wrench into the equation but at least when you plan ahead, you have a head start on getting things under control.

One way to help your facility plan for emergencies or disasters is with a CMMS program. It allows you to set up preventative maintenance, schedule work orders, and so much more. It may not help with a dinosaur that breaches their containment area but it will certainly help your facility run more smoothly and efficiently.
